Lisa Lewis is the City Clerk for the City of Fort Scott. The Clerk's responsibilities are numerous, most existing to serve the citizens of Fort Scott.

City Commission Services

The main portion of the City Clerk's position revolves around City Commission meetings. The Clerk works closely with the City Manager, Department Heads, and other City Staff to coordinate and assemble the City Commission meeting agenda twice a month. The Clerk attends each Commission meeting to record the proceedings. The Clerk is also responsible for distributing all follow-up correspondence regarding City Commission action.

Public Services

In addition to the work with the City Commission, the City Clerk spends much of her time providing the public with various services. She serves as the Freedom of Information Officer for the City of Fort Scott. All public records, documents, and contracts deemed to have historical value or retained as mandated by State law are recorded and filed in the City Clerk's office.

Permits

The City Clerk's office issues a number of permits for the City after approval from the City Commission. Approval of the following permits require submission of the correct application and an Appearance at a City Commission meeting. Please allow (3) weeks for the process of the following :

  • Parade Permit
  • Temporary Park Closure
  • Temporary Street Closure
